Cyber Clean is a Swiss made (first of it’s kind?) cleaning slime that can get at hidden dirt no matter where it hides. Roll the goop over your keyboard or any other device and it will slink in and pick up any bit of filth and debris. It cleans and kills germs while binding with dirt due to its special viscosity and elasticity. It can be used repeatedly until it gets filled with junk and will change color to let you know it’s through. When you’re done, just throw it away – it’s also biodegradable.

This will also be good for public computer areas; I can imagine that those grimy public keyboards are a bit of a vector for stuff like the flu and the cold.

I’m actually amazed at how much my keyboard can take. All manners of chemicals and liquids have been poured into it, yet every key still works. Everything from soda to febreeze to crumbs to bugs..All went in this keyboard.
And yet, I type to you on it now, and I’ve never cleaned it.
I’ll keep the above solution in mind, though.

Depends how much it costs. If it’s throw-away but costs thirty bucks per piece, nobody will buy it. Still, if it is cheap, I would really want some for cleaning out keyboards and other stuff.

Via core 77, via boing boing, via red ferret… where will it end?
This product does look mightily interesting, though. Since the keys on my keyboard are very hesitant to be pulled off, canned air isn’t the best thing to use. The “500g pot” listed under features makes me wonder, though. Half a kilo for 13 USD? Nyuk nyuk nyuk.
I can only imagine what the texture of that thing is like. I probably won’t even want to hold it.
On its Website, Expert Verdict (follow the via links), it’s listed as 1 for £7.95 and 2 for £13.90. Depending on how many uses I’d get, that sounds worthwhile.

Last sentence: “your” should be “you’re”.
Cool product.

Our own bodies make a similar substance. It’s called snot.
July 25th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
That s cool. Glad it s biodegradable too.
July 25th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Just what a keyboard needs, a bit wad of snot

Hope it comes with a warning
“Caution, do not use while computer is on!”.
I swear I didn’t download that movie on purpose, I was just cleaning my keyboard.

Wow do I need your product. I am constantly eating at my computer and really need something to keep my keyboard clean.

I hope it’s not more expensive then my keyboard ;). Great idea … I would buy one for my laptop keyboard …it’s white and it gets dirty pretty fast.
Stumbled !

You can get it at a department store here in Holland (For the Dutchies here: It’s at “Blokker”) and it’s about $5 and it does clean nicely.

Freakin’ awesome! I definitely want some… it’s so difficult to properly clean your keyboard, and with how much I use it I’d like a clean one. Gonna have to order myself some!

Or just by some silly putty and use it to clean your keyboard. It too will “let you know when it’s dirty” by changing colors. Have fun squeezing a dirty piece of putty that’s infested with the dirtiest dirt around – keyboard gunk.

It seems stupid to buy something so easy to make.
Just mix:
1 part elmer’s glue;
2 parts borax;
3 parts hot water;
You may have to adjust these levels. Add water for liquidity, borax for elasticity, and glue for stickiness.

Another way to keep your keyboard clean is to get that shrink plastic that you put over windows to keep the draft out. Wrap your keyboard with that and use a hair dryer to shrink it. Works like a charm and keeps the dust, crumbs, and spilled coffee out. Plus, during flu season, unwrap and wrap with a clean sheet of plastic.

Same product has been out for years in USA. Called Bowling green. Used to clean hands while bowling. Any real bowling supply will have it.b
