A Restaurant Like No Other
Heard of the firm Camper? More than likely your answer is yes of course. And more than likely you thought, yes, that’s the footwear company.
Well you’re right, but the latest venture from the firm proves to be something different from that of shoe making. Indeed Camper is steering its business strategy in a new direction towards projects far removed from the footwear industry. Its latest venture is its restaurant in Barcelona - FoodBALL. Actually being described as a ‘non restaurant’ and serving food ‘free from pesticides, chemical fertilisers, additives, radioactivity, animal fats, genetic manipulation and with no refined flour, sugar or salt’, FoodBALL has been created to take the brand’s values and spirit into the world of food, in an innovative concept based on healthy eating.
Within the first month FoodBall managed to pull 3000 diners. 28 year old Miguel Fluxa, owner and great grandson of Antonio Fluxa (founder of Camper) says “it’s not a bar, or a restaurant, but a way of understanding food culture“.
The décor of this seemingly unconventional setting is the work of interior designer Martí Guixé. There are no chairs or tables or any cutlery. You can ride in on a bike and the house beverage is water. Ambiance is provided by gentle music and projected images of natural landscapes.
Although this idea may seem a little mad-cap, 10 more restaurants are on their way, proving yet another success story for Camper.
And if that’s not enough. Be sure to keep your eye on the new Casa Camper Hotel. Just a stone’s throw from the restaurant.
