Once traveling by plane on business meant that you could skive work and enjoy the view with a glass of bubbly in your hand. Then someone invented laptops and your boss expected the spreadsheet to be completed by the time you land. Now that boss can call you and find out if it’s ready yet.
European planemaker Airbus now expects airlines to allow passengers to use mobile phones in-flight beginning in 2006 after tests in France. Airbus and U.S. firms SITA Inc and Tenzing Communications Inc. announced plans to form a new company in July aimed at helping airlines deploy such technology.
