Buy US A Smart Car

A Smart CarThere are few occasions in these challenging times where I stop on the corner of Houston and Broadway and look up to the heavens and say ‘Thank The Lord’. Today was one of those occasions when I learned that – finally – Mercedes was going to introduce their Smart Cars to the US.

All over the world people zip round in these nifty (8ft long), fuel efficient (70 miles a gallon), attractive (a billion colors and designs, well almost) little motors. Seriously, you can park these beauties anywhere. In Europe they now have a sports-car version and the news is that America will be given a special version all for themselves. An SUV version of course!

For a moment, on that corner, I wondered why America is the last country on earth to get these motors then I saw the slow sea of huge automobiles trying to travese this city and I smelt the fear for change in the air (see MSNBC’s analysis of ‘Is It Safe?’).

America: If Mini can do it, we know Smart Car can too!

What news of the Liebe Apfelsaft (Apple as in Big Apple) Pixels?

  2. Company sources said the Formore SUV model may now be brought forward to 2005 to make quicker inroads into the world’s biggest car market. The original two-seat Fortwo version is not sold in the U.S. market for safety reasons

  3. go to the official site and you will find the US version only gets 40 mpg. yes, 40—that isn’t too smart. what happened in the usa? if you know something different, share please. thanks.

  4. I heard the 40 mpg lower fuel efficiency was due to stricter emission regulations in US. Wonder if that’s really true… =)

  5. Here’s some video of the SMART on I35. Handles US Highways nicely!
