Global Retail Trends
PSFK was invited to a GDR Creative Intelligence presentation of their quarterly retail trend report last week. Held in the offices of Pompei A.D., Chris Pompei introduced the subject by talking about the importance of aesthetic movements: how spaces affect the culture and how these spaces inter-relate across global centers.
The four key trends that GDR reported on was:
Curated Retail - Curated consumption is something we have reported on frequently within PSFK. In stores, the emphasis is on education rather than selling. The display methods are influenced by museums and exhibitions and GDR predicted that we will see more museum designers moving into the retail space. Mind Body & Soul - GDR talked about how the future of well being is of the mind and happiness of the soul. It’s not just about looking good anymore. They pointed at the Slow Life Movement as an example of this.
