Enough of the covers, we want the real deal.

by Simon King

Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the birth of the King, EMI have re-released his classic (Well they were all classics, even the puppet song) Jailhouse rock. According to billboard this has entered the UK charts in the No. 1 position. Billboard also report Iron Maidens “The number of the Beast” original version entering the chart at No. 3.

Do we catch a hint that the day of the cover may soon be over in favour of pure re-releases? If so what’s next for all the Pop Idol talent shows? Will they have to start singing original songs?
