Guy… Maybe you’ll want one of these…
Over the years I’ve bought all kinds of so-called, multi-function devices. But, usually I’ve ended up being somewhat disappointed. Not just in terms of the poor quality of the results, but also because they are very often never quite as easy to use as they were touted to be.
I was therefore, pleasantly surprised when a friend gave me something called the Octave “Multipod” a week ago, and it lived up to all the raves she’d been bombarding me with for days.
Quite simply, it does five things. It’s a video recorder, a digital camera, a Web cam, a voice recorder and a 128MB data storage device…
But the most amazing thing of all is how tiny it is, it’s actually smaller than a lipstick and weighs less than 3/4 of an ounce.
OK, I thought, but the output quality will be crap! Surprisingly, it’s very good.
I’ve never seen anything quite like it, and for $149 it seems reasonable for what it can do.
You can get all the details at http://www.octave.com/mpod
Which is where I’ve been sending everyone who wants to know “what is that thing?” whenever I use it to take a picture, or make myself a voice memo.
I think it’s pretty interesting and quite a bit different from a lot of the gear out there right now.
Cheers/George
