Ringing The Changes

by Guy Brighton

Go on. Admit it. Sometimes, you’d like your cell-phone ringer to play your favorite tune. But there’s no way you’re going to pay some 0898 number for some dodgy beep-beep equivalent.

But all is not lost! Smash the Tones is a service that converts music from your PC and sends it to your cell phone. Josh Spears tells us that, they accept MP3’s, WAV’s, and a few other file types and support every (US) phone carrier he knows. The wait time is about 28 minutes to have the tone delivered but for a small donation of $1.25 they move you to the front of the line.
