As we predicted in our 2005 Trends Forecast, mobile phones that have VoIP capacity will soon be coming to Europe, Asia and the US allowing users to make calls via the web rather than through their network provider.
Dubai-based developer i-Mate offers a $850 PDA2K and PDA2 cell phone equipped with Net phone provider Skype. When users are in a WiFi HotSpot (one day all of New York, Philadelphia and beyond) they can dial other Skype users for free, or pay 2 cents a minute for calling traditional phones.
