Europe’s Rising Gherkins

Foto21Barcelona is set to compete with London’s skyline with the completion of the Torre Agbar tower. British travelers will be reminded of Foster’s Swiss Re tower when they visit the
Glories district of Barcelona.

Whilst Foster’s gherkin is an exposed and gleaming diagonal steel grid, says The Guardian newspaper, the Torre Agbar (designed by Jean Nouvel) is a thick concrete shell wrapped in a skin of profiled aluminium sheeting and a diaphanous blouse of glass louvres.
