PspStuff Magazine recently launched a survey on the top gadgets for the UK.  From their findings they have concluded a Top 10 list that is lead by the soon to be launched (and we really can’t wait!) Sony PSP (no surprises there then).  The PSP is marked as THE gadget for 2005 and is set to have a greater impact on a ‘market’ than any other gadget before.

Rather than asking what does the PSP actually do – it’s more the case – what doesn’t the PSP do?  (Keep you eyes peeled for the PSFK report on this soon)

Falling second in the Top 10 want list is the iPod 60GB.

Adam Vaughan, editor of Stuff Magazine says

"What this year’s Essentials shows is that gadgets are now cheaper, sexier and more indispensable than ever. We’ve got to the point where we can’t live our lives without certain technology."

It seems to be portable gadgets dominate the Top 10 list – all adding to our get up and go lifestyle.  To own all of the gadgets on the list will set you back £7,455 (GBP).  It is said that that’s £1000 cheaper than last years list due to falling manufacturing costs.

  1. Well Ian – looks like you’re in-’touch’. Here’s a clippet from an article in todays NY Times:

An object of desire from Sony

Some traveled to Japan, where the gadgets were released in December. Others paid resellers as much as twice the $250 retail price to get one early, before they arrive in stores in North America in fewer than two weeks, and Europe shortly after this.
    .
The object of desire is the PlayStation Portable, a Sony hand-held video gaming device aimed at redefining entertainment on the go, and not just for young gamers.
    .
For Sony, which has faltered in recent years in some electronics categories ionce dominated, it is a big bet. The company often refers to the PlayStation Portable, the descendant of the PlayStation, born 10 years ago, as the first integrated portable entertainment system.
    .
Besides playing a new class of interactive three-dimensional games on its screen, the PlayStation Portable can play full-length movies, music videos, home movies and digital snapshots with startling clarity. With the tap of a couple of well-placed buttons, the device is a high-fidelity digital music player complete with ear buds.
    .
“It is just the sexiest device I’ve seen since the iPod,” said Sean Spector, a vice president and founder of GameFly, an online video-game rental service, referring to its “beautiful industrial design.” He added, “What the iPod did for music, this could do for electronic games.”

  2. I hope they provide a free lock and chain with them. I can see the black market for PSP’s being quite large!

I’ll be tying mine to my wrist then…
