AdLand, quite possible the quintessential ‘advertising’ blog, has launched a new system that adds Tags to their sizable library of commercials. PSFK has been obsessed with the tags on Flickr recently and this new application of tagging blows PSFK away. AdLands’ Åsk Dabitch told PSFK:
Since spots don’t have keywords they’ve previously only been searchable on things like the brand, the name of the spot, the year and country of the commercial and the topic/category such as "food" or "alcoholic drinks".
But PSFK thinks that the amazing aspect of this service is that it’s collaborative. The users of the site select the Tags (or categories) for each commercial spot. Åsk continues:
Now with every member at Adland, called "adgrunts", able to tag every spot. Places that employ tags don’t usually let all members tag everything, including posts not made by them, so this free-for-all tagging idea is especially interesting, I think. I wonder if fans of certain actors or directors will create tags for their stars. It looks like aardman animations already has a following. (http://ad-rag.com/tags/aardman)."
