Odlogin03betaJudy McGrath, CEO of MTV
Networks
has announced the beta launch of a broadband video service called MTV Overdrive. The service "brings you the latest news, music, live
performances, short form shows and music videos directly to your PC."

The service is ad-supported service, and involves downloading a "Overdrive
Video Optimizer" a desktop app which works with IE and PC
platform.

Erm, hang on. IE and PC only? So no Firefox and no Mac? Looks like MTV are still a little out of sync with the kids! Let’s hope someone uploads the content onto Google, eh?

  1. A different opinion:

    Gushing Over MTV Overdrive
    MTV launched Overdrive today and raised the bar for online video programming. Requiring a download for buffering optimization – not to mention, ugh, ActiveX controls – MTV probably went a little too far in streaming at 700K. Watching at work on a crowded network is pretty much impossible, even though the app sniffs for bandwidth and computer horsepower. The app is Windows Media 10 and Flash, and very slick and polished.

  2. There are many videos I wish to watch on MTV Overdrive.

    I meet ALL of the requirements, plus some.

    …WHY IS IT, THEN, I STILL CANNOT VIEW ANYTHING?!?! I’ve searched through Help and FAQS, done every possible thing suggested and left at least five feedback notices. Still, nothing.

    MTV needs to learn how to properly code their webpages. -.-

    Besides, didn’t they know that flash webpages went out of style a decade ago when everyone learned how to do it for themselves? -.-;

  3. can anyone tell me how to download the “Overdrive Video Optimizier”, please? If so please post the link.

    Thanks a lot.

  4. MTV Overdrive has been re-launched, and is now MAC compatible!!!
