With the run-up to the general election here in the UK the media are full of polls, although, an interesting survey undertaken by the Citizenship Foundation looks at the issues that dominate young people’s concerns, with some surprising results.
A survey of 400 11- to 18-year-olds asked young people to identify 21 political issues and rank the five that mattered most to them:
1st – Student Fees
2nd – Smoking
3rd – Third World Debt
4th – War in Iraq
Joint 5th - Fair trade; Global warming
A spokeswoman for the Citizenship Foundation said: "Young people are interested in global issues as opposed to local or national ones. Is it that they are interested in issue-based politics, but not necessarily in making that change themselves, or is that they don’t feel that they can?"

Interesting poll. Showing that we care about environmental issues.
Good.
