Netflix To Launch Movie Download Service

Netflix is poised to test its long-awaited Internet movie download service, which would broaden its rental business beyond its current DVDs-by-mail offering and fulfill, Yahoo! news reports. Analysts see Netflix’s toe-dipping experiment with Internet movie rentals as positioning the company for the future. It allows Netflix, whose movies are ordered online but delivered by mail, to compete with cable video-on-demand services.

    While video rental stores are going the way of the dodo (Blockbuster, what’s your plan?) Netflix, which revolutionised movie rentals with its mail service is gearing up for the launch of its movie download service (source: PSFK).
