share your concerns about climate change and energy security. We
recognize that reducing CO2 emissions and increasing energy efficiency
are critical challenges that must be addressed. Henry Ford’s vision was
to provide affordable transportation for the world. Today, the Ford
Motor Company wants to expand on that vision for the 21st century and
provide sustainable transportation that is affordable in every sense of
the word economically, socially and environmentally. Here are some of
the actions that we are taking:We are the only car company to
offer a full hybrid SUV, the Escape. The EPA Fuel Economy Guide mileage
estimate for the 2WD Escape Hybrid is 36 miles per gallon in city
driving. And we are adding four more hybrid products to our lineup over
the next three years, including Mercury Mariner, the Ford Fusion, the
Mercury Milan, and the Mazda Tribute.We are investing heavily
in developing hydrogen-powered vehicles, including hydrogen fueled
engines and fuel cells. The State of Florida is our first customer for
the Ford hydrogen powered E450 passenger shuttle buses, and we are in
discussions with other airports and partners throughout North America.Our new Dearborn Truck Plant is the most environmentally innovative manufacturing plant in the world.
We are an industry leader in the transparency of our environmental and social reporting.
More
than half of our research and development budget is dedicated to
finding cost-effective technologies that improve the environmental
performance of our products and facilities.We’re proud of these
actions. At the same time, we know that we have a lot more work to do.
All sectors of business, government and society will have to work
together if we are to reach our common goals of improved fuel
efficiency and lower carbon dioxide emissions.I hope this gives

Does Ford think that just because they have
