Auto Express claim that there’s a new baby on the way at car maker Jaguar. Plans are in place to introduce a new small
coupé. T
he model will be rear-wheel drive and is expected to be
powered by a V6 engine coupled to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The site suggests that the new model will compete with the BMW’s new Z4 Coupé and
Porsche’s Cayman. No description on the car’s environmental policy was mentioned.

  1. Make some sense, on the condition that the brand values aren’t diluted. There is room for it, just as there’s room for three Aston Martins that look exactly the same in that range.

However, your comment about environmental policy is important. Jaguars were once known for being forward-thinking, something that it lost when it started making cars for Arthur Daley (in fiction) and John Prescott (in fact). If there’s something about this car that isn’t all E-type curves, then we’re in for something special. The aluminium structure is clever and saves fuel, but I’d like this to be the first hybrid sports car.

Not counting those that once ran on natural gas in New Zealand a generation ago.
