Maurice Bernstein of music marketing company Giant Step passed me a clever promotions gadget when I met him the other day: It’s an electronic card that plays sounds into your phone in order for you to get free gifts, telephone downloads (of Giant Step’s favorite artists) and even the chance to win a prize. The track will always be up to date as it changes each week.

Simply pull the plastic chord, dial the number given on your cell phone and press the right buttons when asked. Fun and interactive – if a little cumbersome.
