Today’s Financial Times:
Esprit to change U.S. strategy after poor performance — Hong Kong-based fashion retailer Esprit Holdings says it “overestimated” its brand power in America and plans to rethink its strategy in the country. With performance of the business worse than expected since the brand re-entered the U.S. market in the 1990s, officials say the company from next year will sell only casual and junior women’s wear and accessories.
Someone else should take their space. Target arguably, but it’s a cool idea. Maybe P&G will try and be proactive about using their Tide to get our ice cream stains, Prilosec to take away any indegestion the ice cream might cause or Crest to remind them to brush after sweets. Heck, throw all three up there.
