Knowledge Unions - A New Kind of Union

Knowledge Management is a  hot topic in the corporate world. Schlumberger has been trying a new method by pioneering knowledge unions (PSFK’s coinage). These groups elect their own leaders much like a traditional labor union.  They have over 23 communities with 140 sub-groups having over 11,750 members (out of a total employee base of 52,000). These communities help influence the research agenda at the company.
