Book Review: The Trendmaster’s Guide

By Piers Fawkes on September 13, 2005

To be honest, we were a little nervous about reading a book with such an obvious name. We live in this world with clever two name books that don’t quite giveaway their topic. The title of this book looked too just too simple. However, the book by ex-Target trend mistress Robyn Waters turned out to be a great little read.

Whilst some folk are trying to move their literary careers to PDF (ie you have to have a screen to read it), you’ve got to appreciate a bite size real book for our attention deficit world that lets you sweep through its content in about an hour sat in the afternoon September sun by the Hudson river. Ms Waters mentions all the brands we often mention and a good few more we swish we mentioned more often too.

The book is structured in an easy and non patronizing A-Z format. It is very accessible and great for someone who is new to spotting consumer and cultural trends. It’s got some good tips and methodology, it gets to the point and it left us with much respect for Ms Waters.
