Corporate Gifts: A Waste All Around
I was just reading an article not really related to the environment, YES: Are corporate gifts a waste of money?, and it made me think. Not only are corporate gifts usually a waste of money, they are generally just a waste.
‘Tis the season that companies are beginning to think about how they can impress their clients more than the competition with all sorts of expensive and useless gifts. Wrapped in tons of paper and plastic that will be immediately thrown away, I wonder: "How can companies show their customers they care, without creating so much waste?"
Many corporations have rules about what kinds of gifts they can give and receive, so that it is not construed as bribing. But nonetheless, I have seen huge packages sent to and from all over the world, sent as a holiday gift.
This year, I challenge everyone to think about how you can be different this year. How can you be good to the environment at the same time that you show your customers you care? This year, that environmental problems have been even more noticeable than others, the topic has become mainstream. Use this year as an opportunity to show your clients that you are thinking of the future. Do something original.
