A Personal Security Officer For Your Home PC

by Sukumar

Not a day passes without vulnerability reports from
Operating System makers and Browser makers. New viruses, trojans, worms
and other malware are discovered at an alarming frequency. Big
corporations have the luxury of deploying a security team that
constantly monitors the computers and the network using sophisticated
tools and apply the patches from software makers regularly.

But home
office PC users have pretty much restricted themselves to buying and
installing antivirus software and applying the OS patches when they
feel like it. That’s why its not surprising to hear the oft-repeated
claim that within 20 minutes of connecting your home office to the
internet it is compromised. Enter PC Clean Machine - it is a remote
service for protecting your PC by applying all the patches etc. for a
small fee of $10/month. I wonder why ISPs don’t bundle a service like
this with their monthly fee.
