A Closer Look At The Jimi
In a previous post on Trend Central’s Intelligence Group party, mention was made of the Jimi, an innovative wallet created by Mike O’Neill. Last week PSFK was lucky enough to catch up with Mike in San Francisco where I got to see and experience the Jimi first hand, find out more about it and why it is the way it is.
Mike had mentioned that a lot of thought went into the design and he wasn’t kidding. It is meant to hold the essential items needed for daily use; a few bills, cards and maybe a couple receipts. The limited space inside certainly encourages you to streamline your existence. Rather than try to explain how it works I’ll point you to the demo. I’ll also say that pictures don’t really do it justice. It’s a fun item you have to hold in your hand to really appreciate.
The Jimi is produced in the U.S. with a made with responsibility pledge. The outer case is 100% post-industrial recycled polypropylene and the inner parts are 100% recycled polycarbonate. The minimum order of post-consumer plastic is cost prohibitive for making the Jimi at this point but that is the eventual goal. The company is also a member of the 1% For The Planet alliance featured in this Eco.PSFK.Com post.
Mike O’Neill really got our attention as we mentioned in a recent IF.PSFK post. This PSFKer would like to extend a sincere thanks for the time and effort he took to tell us about the Jimi and the very nice black one that is currently riding around in my pocket. You can get one for yourself online or at one of the places on this list of hip retailers.
