Given the rapid progress that the technology industry has been making, the appearance of a personal supercomputer could have been predicted easily. A company called Orion Multisystems has made it happen. They have introduced a linux-based supercomputer built using clustering technology that fits under your desk and can deliver a peak performance of 230 gigaflops. The supercomputer has 96 nodes and can make the nodes appear as 96 individual computers.
