Price Tags – The New Bling

The first thing we do after purchasing an item of clothing is remove the price-tags so they are ready for wear – well, if you’re in the hip-hop scene, not anymore…

Leaving on the flappy and annoying price-tags is the new bling in hip-hop and a statement of fashion plus luxury.  Here’s what hip-hop artist Sway (who beat 50 Cent and The Game to win best hip-hop artist at this year’s Mobo Awards, although still unsigned), says:

"Coming from the manor and being the type of person I am, when you get something new, you want people to know it’s new, so when you’ve got a tag on your hat it means you’ve just got the hat."

In the light of the NBA banning all ‘hip-hop’ related clothing, maybe leaving the tags on the suits might be the next form of expression the players adopt…?
