Jor One On The State Of The Custom Sneaker Movement

by Guy Brighton

JorosapporoIf you can get through the hyperbole, an interview by Dead Stock ezine with Jor One provides a fascinating view of the mixed feelings in the custom sneaker market. While artists strive to take sneaker art to another level, the commercialization of the movement, makes some wonder if it’s all worth it. Jor says:

"I know a ton of people who’ve grown "disenchanted" with collection
sneakers because of all the wack hype you’re talking about. I’m talking
about kids who had hundreds of shoes and just said, "F*ck it; this shit
is retarded." And they sold their kicks and now just buy sneakers for
more functional purposes. They seem much happier now."

Jor also explains the motivations behind some of his unique designs - and also the development of a ‘Sapporo’ pair of sneakers he produced.
