PSP TV

By Piers Fawkes on December 5, 2005

In Japan, Sony have announced that they will start a rental service for their portable PSP game systems. PSP owners will be able to dowload TV shows and other video clips from a Sony and save the files onto memory stick. Each download will costs bewteen $1 and $3 but the file will somehow magically disappear after two weeks on the owner’s system.

The starting lineup contains Japanese hits including the Mobile Suit Gundam films, popular TV anime Noein and Private Princess: Ayase Haruka, billed as a "highly intellectual" bikini shoot.

That 2 week rental does make us wonder why Sony tries so hard to protect intellectual property – hasn’t history show this to be a commercial non-starter for them?
