Anti-Advergames

by Guy Brighton

We’ve all been there: waited for 20 minutes to meet the one member of Kinkos staff at the desk (the others are at the back chatting) and then spent another 20 minutes kissing arse to make sure that they don’t forget/muck-up/lose your delicate project. Now a game maker has developed a game to let us all get our own back. The blurb:

Disaffected! gives the player the chance to step into the demotivated
position of real FedEx Kinkos employees. Feel the indifference of these
purple-shirted malcontents first-hand, and consider the possible
reasons behind their malaise — is it mere incompetence? Managerial
affliction? Unseen but serious labor issues?

The makers say that Disaffected! is an anti-advergame  - a game that can demonstrate dissatisfaction and criticism against corporations.

Disaffected!
