In the traditionally slowest month for record sales in the UK, the Arctic Monkey’s debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not sold 363,735 over-the-counter sales during the first week of release- a British record for any debut album ever. The Arctic Monkeys leveraged the web including MySpace to gain popularity.
