As you may know by now, IF! has been asked to present the Future Marketing Summit in February. Two of my big themes at the moment are transparency and participation and I am trying to leverage both to help promote the show.
Firstly, I am going to write this diary on the pages of IF! – I want to share my thoughts, the things IF! is doing to prepare for this day, and get feedback from you all.
Secondly, I am going to encourage participation by asking markeitng bloggers to help. On Thursday I sent an email to about a dozen prominent marketing bloggers about the Summit. I didn’t hit the ad-news blogs because the organisers (Remote) will be PR-ing them. What I would like to do with the marketing bloggers is somehow get them involved with the build up and the event themselves.
In the email I sent them I asked if they would like to help me. Over the next few weeks, I will send them interviews with speakers from the Summit – original content which I hope they’d want to put up on their blogs. But it doesn’t stop there. I want them to get involved – for a start, I want them to suggest what questions to ask the speakers. And I have other thoughts, like running a Flickr photo hunt.
In addition, I want to provide tools that other bloggers and readers can use: a del.icio.us library of links of articles about the Future Marketing Summit, a Flickr group with related images, a Technorati tag and so on (thanks Dana for the ideas!).
So. That’s the beginning. Hope you enjoy the ride with me.
If you have any feedback – or would like to get involved. Feel free to email me, Piers Fawkes, any time.
