After a very well received documentary on Jeff Koons, director/producer Alison Chernick continued to explore the avant garde art scene by filming Matthew Barney use 45,000 pounds of petroleum jelly, a factory whaling vessel and traditional Japanese rituals to create his latest art project. All with the help with fellow collaborator Bjӧrk. Alison’s film premieres at the Berlin Film Festival in February but if you can’t wait – here’s the trailer (it took us forever to download tho’).

What’s the point?

that is the beauty of Matthew Barney… his work has no point
but I thought that this was a movie that he was doing in collaboration with his lovely wife
