Q&A With Merina Vo : MySpace Queen, Flickr Star… And The New Asian Oprah??

Merina Vo is a web phenomenon. A Vietnamese-born Canadian, she promotes her self-help book and her ‘live life glamourously’ philosophy through her MySpace and Flickr sites. What is fascinating is that while her MySpace site provides advice on subjects such as ‘overcoming fear‘, her rather popular Flickr site has a lot of self-taken risque photos of herself. We thought we’d ask the young lady to explain herself.

What do you hope to inspire in people who read your book, visit your sites?

I only wish that what I do will inspire people to look at their passion
and what they want to do. I know for a fact that when you invest in
your gift and your skill only great result will be shown. I set the
example myself by going out there and chase after what I believe. at the
end of the day all we want is happiness and to create is happiness for
me.

We are intrigued. Alongside your advice pages, we see all these rather saucy photos of yourself. How does the photography fit in with your business?

I always believed that by setting the an example you must do it
yourself. I know the feeling of beauty and creation because this is
what I feel and do all day long. I create on a very big scale and I
have many different mediums to express them. Most of who I am is about
love, going forward and being what your heart desires so that you are
happy and because you are happy it effects others around you and this
is how the love virus spread. My photography is one medium that I share
with the planet right now. Like anyone who is making an influence or
creative they put themselves out there and by doing that the word gets
around and you get more known. Thanks to the internet I am able to
create my own fame. I love pictures since i was a child. Always been in
front of the camera. And my mom always put pictures of me everywhere so
I learned to idolise myself at a very early age. So with practice and
passion good things are the result.

My photos are just taking off right now. I have an ebook that i am
giving away free but still there is a website that people can purchase
it. I am mostly giving it away in a community like this one or
myspace.com

I will continue to do photography but i will add more things. I have a
collection presenting this spring and also a movie in this summer. yes
i want to be the next Asian Oprah!

The next Oprah?! How would the Asian Oprah do things differently?

She would not do anything differently actually. She will just add more
to the world of free thoughts, blissful events and wonderful environment
so people can create, heal and become who they want to be.
