When Design = Communication

We refer to the term Communication Design often in our business, but what about design as communication? Well, Shot Code seems to have created a very cool way of making it easy for people with camera phones to access (marketing) information. With a design resembling something like a cross between a UPC and shooting target, each unique Shot Code is actually a URL that can be captured using a camera phone. Yes, just install a small app on your phone, take a photo of the Shot Code and you’ll be automatically connected to the online content that’s been set up. The demo video on their site shows a concert poster featuring a Shot Code graphic and with one photo you are able to purchase tickets or watch a video. Pretty amazing technology that has incredible potential. Makes a great, and literal, connection between design and communication that’s for sure!
