Green Taxes Embraced

Green Taxes Embraced

By Guy Brighton on February 22, 2006

With the debate on global warming gaining momentum increasingly the discourse focuses on those industries that are deemed to have a greater impact. Campaigners are targetting the obvious airlines and also peoples home energy use.

Although check out this stat from a recent UK Guardian/ICM poll on peoples attitudes to paying more to be green:

63% said they approved of a green tax to discourage behaviour that harms the environment, while 34% said they would not accept such price rises.

There are a raft of other stats from the report which gives hope to the change in attitudes of the populus. I think people are starting to adopt the idea that things will have to change and if that means a few extra pennies then so be it.
