We’re not talking IKEA here – this is a HUGE national commitment in economic and sustainable policies. Sweden has announced that within 15 years it will be oil-free and without the use of nuclear energy (which the UK is focusing on).

All fossil fuel consumption will be replaced with renewable energy and biofuels for its 9 million population.  Sweden’s minister of sustainable development, Mona Sahlin, said:

"There shall always be better alternatives to oil, which means no house should need oil for heating, and no driver should need to turn solely to gasoline. A Sweden free of fossil fuels would give us enormous advantages, not least by reducing the impact from fluctuations in oil prices."

Impressively bold!
