Global Connectivity: Over Watched
The negative side to being all this access to all this information (anytime, anywhere) is that it’s not only you who has access to it. Governments and government agencies have access to a huge amount of information about you pretty instantly. As you may know, if you visit London it’s likely that you will be photographed or filmed by security cameras over 300 times in a day. In fact, a third of the Western world’s CCTV cameras are found in the UK - something that didn’t hinder the bombings in London’s Underground last year.
After studying the British system, the NYPD is planning to install a ‘ring of steel’ around New York’s Wall Street. The 500 cameras will photograph everyone and every car crossing south of Chambers Street.
