Walmart opened a market research office in Bangalore, India last month heightening the frenzy surrounding the expected opening up of India’s retail sector. Although, India has one of the largest number of retailers in the world (12 million retail outlets), organized retailing forms only 2%. On the one hand there is trepidation of job loss due to the entry of Walmart and other biggies. On the other hand, however, there is an expectation that a lot of new jobs will be created as the retail industry organizes itself.

It does create a job boom and u shall have many oppurtunities but one thing t o understand is you need to be slogging depending on where you did your MBA before you asssume a Marketer’s postion or Mercahndiser’s position in a retail organisation.learn your Kotler and MARCOM thouroughly with Selling nd distribution to get a edge over others…read multiple advertisements and interpret them,get to know the ins and outs of retailers across the spectrum and their products,strenghts and weaknesses.
