There’s an interesting and confusing campaign being run by Nike aimed to bring skills and passion back into football (soccer) rather than diving, fighting, spitting and arguing. Eric Cantona – he who once jumped feet first from the football pitch into a Crystal Palace spectator – presents the case in a two and a half minute clip. The clip also shows Wayne Rooney in action – a beautiful player, but damn brutal too.

Traditionally Nike have done some great ads.
But I feel they got it waaaay wrong this time.
Nike really aren’t in any position to become defenders of fairplay. (Noble goal though, that that may be.)
Why?
Well, the first time I saw this ad, it was in the ad break at half-time during the Chapions League game Chelsea vs Barca. Messi had just got Del Horno sent off, (Can I say that? WoooHooo racy.)
Anyhow I think most fair minded viewers spotted: 1. Messi going down 2. Clocking the ref to see if he’d got his attention. 3. Kicking in with the dying swan routine.
Poor do as we say in Yorkshire.
The week before we saw Robben doing a nicew job of getting the Liverpool goalie sent off.
A few weeks before we see Essen take Hamann out with a big time clattering.
Van Nistelrooy spends more time on his arse screaming at the ref than in the air.
The common denominator: They’ve all got Nike logo’s on their shirts.
If Nike really mean, as Eric says in the ad, with a tear in his eye: ‘For too long we let liars and cheaters amke a fool of the game.’, maybe they should start cleaning things up a bit nearer home.

I really shouldn’t post after drinking too much coffee. Essen?, Robben?, Nike logo’s on their shirts? I think not. Chelsea’s shirt sponsor is Umbro. I got that wrong and unreservedly apologise for it.
Maybe I meant Arsenal, aren’t they sponsored by Nike? Is it my imagination or haven’t we seen van Persie and Reyes doing exactly what NIke and Eric condemn in the ad.
Wouldn’t Nike’s pitch be more believable if they instituted some sort of fair-play league table, reducing the sponsorship money they pay to their endorsed athletes, if those players are seen to be cheating? (Apology No. 2 incidentally for the appalling typo’s in my earlier post. Crap typing and factual inaccuracies? Time to log off I think.

Robben, van Persie, van Nistlerooij – I guess you have a thing against Dutch players in the EPL – Fine no problem – but all this diving in the EPL has to stop, it almost looks like the Italian operas we see in the Serie A

It took me about an hour, and it really tested my knowledge of Spanish, goin through spanish sites but i found the artist..
Quema, Quema is sung by Edwin Rivera…he’s relatively unheard of in the U.S. he’s a merengue star and well known in the carribean…i haven’t been able to find the download for his song anywhere online…but you can buy the album off amazon. com
it’s called Vuelve…the songs pretty old and in the carribean it’s known as “the” quema quema…guess it’s that popular

ok, first: Joga bonito- “joga” in portuguese is play, and the way it is positioned in the sentence, demands the person to “play” “bonito”, which, in its turn has a lot of meanings. it first refers to the playing style of ronaldinho-beautiful for the eyes and soul-, refers to its meaning of beautiful, not in “pretty”, but in -respectful, obeying the new laws brazillian football style set, using that special twist that only he can give us, respecting the memory of football and street football(style most used in here in brazil). “joga Bonito” is like “have ur own style, pose and tricks-defy everything”…using of course our brazillian expression which CANNOT be trnaslated…as u could see…

First, I would like to say that ronaldinho is way better than henry. He has the best ball skills ever and he loves the game more than anyone. I have never seen him without a smile on his face.

Whichever they are, am I right in thinking still no one knows the song played throughout “The Big Cup” game? It’s quite modern really… doesn’t sound like a typical football theme.

i havent been here in a while but in fairness i think henry is better than ronaldinho. i love the way ronaldinho plays he has a love for the game and a great attitude. so does henry.but theres just something about henrys play and attitude that make him stand out. surely at least 1 person must agree? thank u 2 every1 who did!

Ronaldinho was better he set up Eto’o when LEMON tripped him up…Henry had two one on one chances with Valdes and missed both of them how does that make him a good finisher, sure he finshes well against Shiddy EPL teams but when it really matters he stuffs it up…and thats the cold hard truth SORRY…

Well… The discussion between Henry and Ronaldinho could last years… As to the significance of JOGA BONITO is easier. Joga Bonito literal translation means Play Pretty. Beautiful would be Lindo. But the normal most accepeted and current translation is in fact Play Beautifull. Trust me: I’m portuguese and graduated in Portuguese and English. And I believe Joga Bonito means all that: tp play fair, without tricks, but with our best habillities.

in the ad where the two kids are picking the dream team with kaka, beckham and kahn, the song “de lalouette” by RJD2 is used in the ad but the bit you hear makes up about a quarter of the song the rest of the song sounds like they are trying all the instruments for the first time. oh and also CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL WHO SINGS ‘DELICIOUS’ I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND IT FOR AGES AND STOP POSTING LINKS JUST SAY IT!!!!!!!!.
