During the dotcom hype days a few startups like Accompany and Mobshop tried to facilitate group buying in the US. Now WSJ is reporting that in China, buyers are using Internet Discussion Forums to come together and then proceed to the chosen retailer to negotiate a significant group discount even on big budget purchases like automobiles.
