Monumentism

Monumentism

By Piers Fawkes on March 29, 2006

In today’s presentation at the Slovenian Advertising Festival I will be talking about a number of trends – macro and micro. One of them is this idea of ‘monumentism’ – this trend in architecture to build us powerful yet simple structure that challenges our environments. In my slides I talk about the Paul Smith store in LA and the brand buildings in Tokyo. If you keep your eyes open, you can see this everywhere. Take a look at this face in Portorose in Slovenia I saw yesterday. (Click image to enlarge)
