Ex. Wallpaper founder, luxury consultant Tyler Brûlé now writes a regular column for the FT. For his March 10 piece, he describes a hectic day in Tokyo where he seems to visit every achingly cool store & restaurant in the city. His trip includes:
- Celux (Louis Vuitton’s members only shopping emporium) – where he buys Wolrd Cup Havainanas
- Yoshida Bag shop for one of Porter’s iconic, boxy duffels.
- Mori’s (a Tadao Ando designed retail and residential complex) Beyes (A new concept by Sony for the man “who’s outgrown Patagonia but still wants functional outerwear, has a taste for custom Orobianco bags and is fussy about his denim brands.”)
- Forty Carats and Five Hundred and Twenty Five (owned by designer Takeo Kikuchi and designed by the Meguro-based architecture firm Simplicity)_ – where he tries to buy a blazer
- Tomorrowland – for a double-vented navy blazer. No joy.
- Daikanyama restaurant – for the 48-hour curry of the day
- Hacknet (”one of the best bookshops for design in the world”) Bonjour Records – to buy Fake by The Emigrants.
