The technique of bloodless surgery was developed for the benefit of Jehovah’s Witnesses, who believe that the Bible forbids transfusions. Now this bloodless option is available to everyone and is seen by many doctors as a much safer alternative and its cheaper as well. A variety of techniques are used to make the surgery bloodless – efficient heart-lung bypass machines, high tech scalpels that clot blood as they cut, freezing the tissue before its cut etc.
