The latest email newsletter from JC Reports spotlights two happening neighborhoods in Tokyo. Firstly, Daikanyama:
Daikanyama’s pricey real estate is almost entirely devoted to fashion retail establishments serving style-crazy folks in their late teens to early twenties. Few big overseas brands have a presence in the area — those who frequent this chic corner of Tokyo prefer their threads from the boutiques of home-grown designers or "select shops" (as multilabel stores are called in Japan).
and Nakemeguro:
While phenomenal foot traffic has sent rents in Daikanyama through the roof, just a stone’s throw away is Nakameguro, where space is just affordable enough to have tempted a host of hip young entrepreneurs to open cafés, restaurants, and boutiques with an experimental edge.
The area retains a village feel, and the river running one block back from the main road is lined with cherry trees, making it a prime spot for spring strolls.
