Spielbard Takes On REality

On the Lot is a new ‘pop-idol-stylee’ reality show looking for fresh film-making talent and is headed up by Steven Spielberg.

Following a nationwide search, a group of 16 finalists will be divided into teams to produce a short film for each week’s selected film genre, such as comedy, horror, drama, romance or science fiction. The winners will get a Hollywood development deal at DreamWorks.

Spielberg says of the project:

"All through my career I’ve done what I can to discover new talent and give them a start, this opportunity … allows all of us to reach out directly to open a much wider door."
