California Plans To Slay Vampire Electronic Devices

by Piers Fawkes

Lawmakers in Sacramento plan to introduce a law to combat the drain on the environment by home-electornics left on stand-by. The bill, called the Vampire Slayers Act, aims to tackle cable boxes, stereos, televisions and chargers for laptops and cell phones that keep using energy even when plugged in but not in use.

The bill require electronic devices to be labeled to tell consumers how much energy is used when the device is in standby mode.

PSFK asks its readers - how many of you guys leave your mobile phone and laptop chargers in the wall unused? Don’t wait for a law to remind you: it’s time to unplug!
