Digg 3.0 Disappoints

The latest version of community edited site was launched this morning - and after a strong buzz generated in the run up, we find the release a tad disappointing. The interface is smoother and the categories are wider but overall, it’s as if the owners have done a refresh rather than a major overhaul.

Jason Calacanis has nothing to worry about. Obviously taking cues from Digg, he built a true 3.0 version of a community edited site with the beta-version Netscape. Netscape brings a greater sense of community and collaboration - those aspects remain hidden in the new Digg.

  1. YOU disappoint.

  2. Netscape will never even truly compete with digg.

  3. How much did netscape pay you to write this? How does it feel to be a tool?

    Seriously. You disappoint.

  4. wow that’s pathetic, stop kissing jason’s ass and submit to digg v3

  5. I CONCUR! I find that the essence of what made digg such a success is slowly evaporating, and I must admit that Netscape had done a DAMN nice job.

It looks like Netscape will soon do to Digg what IE did to them.

    Ironic, nes pa?

  6. Why don’t you stop dissing digg? Digg owns. And anyways, your’re website sucks. It has a horrible logo and pointless content. And Netscape sucks, so don’t even dare compare it to Digg, and say that Jason “has nothing to worry about.” You’re a Netscape butt-kisser.

  7. Digg disappoints who?

Netscape copied Digg. If Jason were in college he would get a F for being a non creative lazy idea copying chimp.

  8. Digg has a good community, it has many more people, it isn’ littered with ads everywhere, and doesn’t have shit stories. Netscape has all of that.. They are simply a wannabe.

  9. someone please bury this story.

  10. Seems like the Digg fans need to grow up a bit.

Is anyone capable of reasoned debate?
  11. Wow kid, Diggnation is a great site… and you guys make fun of it and then copy it with the new netscape. :P

Netscape is a good browser but there homepage is for old people haha

  12. Oh please! Obviously, anyone can compare netscape to digg, the diff is clear. why cant u just take it that an independent site is kicking corporate’s butt?

  13. yea, digg is just much cooler, even if netscape were better, which it’s not, I still would pick digg because its all about the community, digg has good people.
