By Piers Fawkes on June 4, 2006

James Nestor in Dwell writes about the budding movement in home spun bio-diesel. He argues that while the price of bio-diesel is dropping and that the green fuel has become available at more that 650 stations in the US; a more attractive option for people may be to convert their diesel cars to take diesel, bio-diesel and waste vegetable oil – and therefore even drive for free.

A conversion of a car, costing between $300 to $2,000, will let drivers find their fuel at a number of sources, including the free (for now) waste oil from local restaurants
