Reality Show for our feline friends
Peering into the Meow Mix store window yesterday, we spotted an elaborate crib complete with a miniature aquarium and coffee table. On closer inspection, we spotted a couple of cats lounging around in various "rooms" of the house.
Apparently, Meow Mix has selected 10 cats to participate in the first ever reality show for cats. Meow Mix, the cat-food company is best known for the temporary Meow Mix cafe, cat-only restaurant , it opened on 5th Ave some 2 years ago.
The idea behind the reality show? 10 kitties will live together in this colorful, almost too majestic, space created in the Meow Mix showroom on 49th and Madison. Live webcams are installed in each room so viewers can log on to the Meow Mix website to watch the cats at any given time of the day. Viewers will then vote for their favorite cat and the cat with the lowest votes will be fired.
The winning cat will be given the position of Feline Vice President of Research and Development at the Meow Mix Company. In simpler words, the winning cat will become the guniea pig at the Meow Mix company and will taste their new products and maybe feature in a commerical or two. On the plus side, all 10 cats will be adopted by the end of the show.
Intelligent brand extension or just a silly advertising campaign? Time will spell that out for us. The company is in talks with a couple of cable channels to air the reality show.
