Using RSS For Marketing

Using RSS For Marketing

By Guy Brighton on June 8, 2006

Over on e-consultancy, they have interviewed Fergus Burns, CEO and founder of Nooked, on how brands can use RSS in their marketing activity. Here’s an except:

Are there any businesses doing RSS well at the minute? Any examples to share?

RSS is primarily used today for news distribution. In the UK, the BBC, the Guardian, etc all provide content in RSS format.

However, given that RSS is ideal for distributing content, we are seeing RSS used in marketing. For example, Amazon, eBay, Expedia and others are now offering product information/offers through RSS.

The Hotel group, JurysDoyle, provide special offers through RSS, as well as Tesco which has a “deal of the day” through RSS.
